Why did my computer require Duo again before the Remember Device time was up?

For Web Applications (e.g., Banner):

Duo uses cookies to track a user's session within their web browser. Below are some examples of when Duo may prompt you for TFA twice or more within one day:

  • Clearing the cache of the browser you logged into the application with
  • Switching/closing browsers throughout the day
  • logging out of and/or restarting your computer

For Windows Logins:

The Duo Windows Logon client will require a remembered device to prompt early under the following conditions:

  • user signed out of the device and signed back in
  • user signed in while the device was offline
  • user signed in via Remote Desktop
  • the computer was restarted
  • the computer joined a different network
    • This includes undocking a laptop and switching to wifi
